Jakara Jackson is opening up about how she learned she was being let go by WWE — and it wasn’t the call she expected.

In a new YouTube video posted on May 10, 2025, the former NXT star detailed the moment she received the shocking news that her WWE run was over.

“I was actually getting ready for my niece’s birthday dinner, and I got a phone call,” Jackson said. “The person on the other end sounded sad. Already on the reel. I feel like everybody thinks about it, because it’s not a matter of if. It’s when.”

Jackson said she immediately knew something was wrong based on the tone of the call. “I was shook,” she admitted. “I definitely missed my niece’s birthday dinner because I had to regroup. It’s shocking news, you know what I’m saying? I did end up going roller skating with her, so don’t worry. I didn’t skip out on her.”

Despite the sudden nature of the call, Jackson kept a positive outlook. “It is what it is and it ain’t what it isn’t,” she said. “A wise man once told me that.”

Jackson, who now plans to go by her real name Jamara, expressed gratitude for the support she’s received from fans and friends in WWE. “I can’t say that my girl Nikita [Lyons] and Tatum [Paxley] are two people who helped me stay sane in this place,” she said, noting how they kept her grounded throughout her NXT run.

Now, with her WWE days behind her, Jackson is ready to move forward and keep her name in the conversation. “Life isn’t what happens to you, it’s how you move on from it,” she added.
