Goldberg’s name is being floated internally in WWE, and it could mean the Hall of Famer is on his way back.
According to WrestleVotes, “Goldberg’s name has been floated internally within WWE over the past week — the first time since his Bad Blood appearance and his interactions with Gunther. Feels like the inevitable return is nearing.”
This update follows speculation stemming from Goldberg’s tense confrontation with GUNTHER at WWE Bad Blood. The two squared off, creating a moment that many expected would lead to a match. However, WWE hasn’t revisited the angle, and now the spotlight turns to Backlash on May 10th and the Saudi Arabia PLE set for June.
During a recent Q&A session, WrestleVotes addressed whether Goldberg will appear at Backlash, stating, “I haven’t heard anything. He started the whole thing at Bad Blood with GUNTHER. They haven’t done anything since. McAfee’s got the football background, Goldberg’s got the football background. The Saudi Arabia pay-per-view is coming up. So, if they want Goldberg and GUNTHER to take place in this Saudi Arabia PLE that happens in June, you might as well start it here in May. But again, I haven’t heard if he’ll be there on Saturday for Backlash and he’s not expected to be there.”
Despite the uncertainty around Backlash, Goldberg himself confirmed he’s training for a retirement match, which he plans to have before the end of 2025. The former WWE Champion said, “I do not know who, when or where I’m wrestling,” but made it clear he’s determined to close out his career on his own terms.
Goldberg’s last WWE match was at Crown Jewel 2022 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he lost to Bobby Lashley in a No Holds Barred match. Despite that loss, the wrestling icon is aiming to go out with a major clash, and the Saudi Arabia PLE in June could be the perfect stage.
