WWE acquiring Mexican lucha libre promotion AAA is simply just the first step for the company, since they clearly want to expand beyond just that promotion. With that in mind, it appears WWE will closely monitor AEW Grand Slam: Mexico just to sign any good available talent.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE is keeping a close eye on the AEW Grand Slam: Mexico event, with plans to scout and possibly sign any standout talent who are available.

This is similar to how they quickly signed Stephanie Vaquer after her performance at last year’s Forbidden Door. It was noted that WWE’s goal is to bring in solid CMLL talent from the show to help strengthen their newly acquired AAA promotion.

AEW Grand Slam: Mexico will be taking place in the legendary Arena México in Mexico City on June 18th and it’s already a sold-out event, which has made it clear fans really do want to see AEW in the country.

We have previously reported that WWE plans to keep only a handful of AAA talent after replacing their current contracts, but obviously they want to expand their roster with solid professional wrestlers. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see if WWE will end up signing anyone who competes at AEW Grand Slam: Mexico next month.
