This week, WWE released several rising NXT stars, sparking widespread debate among fans online. Many questioned why the Stamford-based promotion would part ways with talents who were performing well in the developmental brand. Notable names such as Cora Jade, Gigi Dolin, and Jakara Jackson were among those let go. Now, a recent report sheds light on why WWE made such a bold decision.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, many of the released NXT stars were reportedly viewed as not putting in maximum effort during training. Meltzer noted that WWE internally labels such individuals as “lazy.” In recent times, the company has shown little hesitation in cutting talent it perceives as lacking dedication.
Many of those cut were perceived as not working hard in training. And if you don’t work hard in training, there’s so many people who do. And at this point, if the feeling is you’re not working hard in training – I saw the term ‘lazy’ – the ones who are lazy are gonna be gone, and the ones who didn’t stand out are gonna be gone.
The report has sparked debate, as many fans believe talents like Gigi Dolin and Shotzi were performing exceptionally well in NXT. In fact, Cora Jade was even pulling double duty, appearing on both NXT and TNA. Labeling them as “lazy” has therefore become a highly controversial stance.
Nevertheless, now that these stars have been released, they seem eager to move forward with their careers in sports entertainment. Notably, Cora Jade has already revealed her post-WWE ring name and even hinted at the possibility of joining OnlyFans. As for the rest of the released talents, further updates on their next moves are yet to emerge.
