Ricochet isn’t holding back anymore—especially when it comes to how he feels about his time in WWE. After a fan mocked his AEW run on social media, suggesting he left WWE just for a world title shot, Ricochet fired back with a personal and emotional response that cut right to the heart of his decision to leave.
“No, the main reason was that the WWE ruined my love and passion for the sport that I grew up loving. AEW helped me find that love again,” Ricochet tweeted.
Since jumping to AEW at All In last year, Ricochet has undergone a massive transformation, not only reinventing himself as a top-tier heel but also earning praise from AEW President Tony Khan. In an interview with Z100 New York, Khan said Ricochet is “one of the most compelling and interesting people in wrestling” and believes he’s “building one of the best characters in wrestling, which is the villain Ricochet that we see on TV right now.”
Khan explained how Ricochet’s run in the Continental Classic helped elevate his status. “He’s an incredible wrestler, he’s also a great talker and he has a great personality… I thought it would be very smart to lean into it. He’s done a fantastic job with it and I’m incredibly impressed with him.” Khan also emphasized his long-term commitment to Ricochet, saying, “I’m proud that AEW has Ricochet on our roster for years to come and hopefully forever because that guy is a star.”
Ricochet’s rise in AEW has caught the attention of more than just fans. WWE President Nick Khan recently told The Bill Simmons Podcast that he expects several AEW wrestlers to jump to WWE once their contracts are up. “When, contractually, they are available to talk to and have conversations with, assume a number of them will come over,” Khan said. He acknowledged AEW’s roster strength and even gave a nod to the company’s financial backing via the Khan family.
But Ricochet wasn’t having it. He slammed WWE’s approach in response to Nick Khan’s remarks with a blunt tweet: “Oh man, these guys f**king suck.”
Ricochet’s passion for AEW is clear, and it seems his commitment to the company runs far deeper than titles or contracts. While he may not have won a world championship yet, the shift in his character, performances, and morale tells a story that WWE couldn’t script.
