Natalya has always been a celebrity thanks to her WWE career, and that was even more apparent when she was part of Total Divas. In fact, it appears that Natalya nearly quit WWE after falling for a fake Jason Momoa call.

While speaking on the Nikki and Brie podcast, Natalya said she unfollowed Jason Momoa after an incident where she was tricked by someone pretending to be him. She explained how disappointed she was when she found out it wasn’t actually the real actor. Bret Hart had unknowingly played a part in the confusion.

Natalya revealed that he texted her saying that someone named Jason Momoa, whom he thought was an actor, had called him. Bret didn’t recognize who Jason was, and Natalya wasn’t entirely sure either until she Googled him and realized he was a big star.

“I unfollowed Jason Momoa after that whole incident with my fake Jason Momoa—like, it wasn’t even the real one. You know how sad I was when I found out it wasn’t real? I couldn’t believe that was happening to me. Because Bret—Bret Hart, you know, my uncle—he was the one that was like, ‘Nattie, I got this guy.’ Bret didn’t even know who the hell Jason Momoa was. So Bret sends me a text, he’s like, ‘I got this guy named Jason Momoa. He called me today. He’s an actor or something.’ And I didn’t know who he was either, so I Googled him. I go, ‘Bret, this guy’s a big deal.'”

Later, while Bret Hart and a film crew were having breakfast, he told her that Jason Momoa wanted to call her and asked if he could give him her number. Natalya was excited because she knew Jason Momoa from Aquaman and thought it would be amazing to be in one of his movies. She even considered leaving WWE for the opportunity.

“So then you guys were downstairs having breakfast with the film crew and everything, and Bret’s like, ‘He wants to call you. Can I give him your number?’ And I was like, ‘Well, s***, he’s in this movie called Aquaman—yes, absolutely, give him my number!’ And he’s like, ‘Jason Momoa wants you to be in one of his movies.’ I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is crazy. I’m gonna—’ Like, I was ready to quit my job.”

Natalya ended up speaking with the fake Jason Momoa on the phone for an hour, fully convinced he was real. Everyone around her was eager to hear from him as well and when he finally called, they all realized something wasn’t right since it was a scam.

Despite not being an actress, the way the impersonator spoke made everything sound believable and he even sounded like the real Jason Momoa. Since Bret Hart had given him her number, Natalya messaged her uncle once they figured it out, telling him the guy wasn’t who he claimed to be.

Bret Hart apologized, but Natalya couldn’t believe she had spent 90 minutes talking to a fake and was ready to inform WWE she’d be leaving for a movie role.

“Anyway, I got on the phone with this fake Jason Momoa for an hour. I remember we were all waiting, like, we all wanted to hear from Jason Momoa. Then we realized, all of us, when he finally did call—we realized it was fake.

And I was like, ‘But I don’t even know how to act, I’m not an actress… but maybe?’ However that guy said it to you—we were all like, ‘Oh my gosh, yes!’ It made sense. The pitch was amazing. I believed every word. He sounded like Jason Momoa. He had a voice like Jason. And Bret’s the one who gave him my number.

And then I sent Bret a text once we found out he was fake. I was like, ‘Bret, that guy is not the real Jason Momoa.’ He was like, ‘Oh, okay, sorry about that.’ I was like, ‘I just gave the guy 90 minutes of my life on the phone.’ I was about to call WWE and be like, ‘Hey guys, I’m gonna do a movie now!'”

This just goes to show that even WWE Superstars can get fooled every once in a while since they are all humans at the end of the day. Regardless, we’ll have to see whether Natalya will ever end up getting to act with Jason Momoa for real, or at least have a good laugh about this whole incident with him someday.
