Zelina Vega just made history on WWE SmackDown by capturing the WWE Women’s United States Championship, taking down Chelsea Green to become only the second woman to ever hold the title. But instead of flexing on the SmackDown roster, Zelina is already eyeing a potential challenger from RAW—her close friend Dakota Kai.
Speaking to Adam Barnard of Screen Rant, Zelina made it clear who she wants to face first. “Dakota, I would love to give her the first shot. I’m just saying. Dakota Kai gets first shot. I would love that. She has become like a sister to me.”
The two aren’t just friends behind the scenes—they co-host a weekly podcast together, which has become a favorite among fans for its honest convos and insider vibes. So it’s no surprise that Zelina is ready to throw her a championship opportunity the moment Kai is back in the ring.
Dakota hasn’t wrestled on TV since March 17, when she picked up a win over Ivy Nile on RAW. Fans started speculating about her absence, but she recently cleared the air on social media, writing: “I miss wrestling and I miss you guys. Not hurt btw!”
Zelina’s win not only puts her at the top of the SmackDown women’s division, but it also opens the door for crossover drama with RAW—especially if she gets her wish and Dakota Kai steps up for that title shot.
Zelina Vega isn’t wasting time when it comes to proving herself as champion. She’s ready to defend the gold—and wants to do it against someone she respects, not just someone who’s next in line. If WWE gives her the green light, fans could be in for one of the most personal title matches the Women’s U.S. Championship has seen yet.
