John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 but WWE didn’t waste any time setting up his next program, as he is set to square off against Randy Orton at Backlash next month. While Cena has made a couple of appearances this week, his next appearance ahead of the Backlash Premium Live Event has been revealed.

According to WWE’s official website, the Undisputed WWE Champion is set to make his next appearance on the May 9th edition of Friday Night SmackDown in Dayton, Ohio, which will be the go-home edition of the show ahead of the Backlash Premium Live Event.

As seen during the April 25 episode of WWE SmackDown, John Cena and Randy Orton had a war of words and went very personal, with Orton taking shots at Cena for never having kids. The segment ended with Randy Orton hitting an RKO on John Cena and standing tall.

John Cena currently has 26 dates remaining on his calendar as part of his retirement tour, so each and every single one of his appearances matters. Even then, some fans are disappointed they won’t get to see Cena until right before Backlash again.
