WrestleMania 41 Sunday saw the unthinkable happen as John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. Following his major win, Cena has now stated that WWE will have to create a new championship, since he’ll be taking the current title with him when he leaves in December.

While speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, John Cena declared that while the show will go on and everyone is replaceable, he’s going to force wrestling to start over. He said the championship is coming home with him and that he will be the final Undisputed WWE Champion.

According to Cena, WWE will have to create a new title and reset the lineage, with the next champion, whether it’s Cody Rhodes, Dominik Mysterio, or Bron Breakker, being the first of a new era.

Cena said that legends like Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and CM Punk are all part of the title’s legacy and now that legacy is going with him because he earned it.

Cena said he wants to make history and leave his mark on the business by taking that symbol of tradition home with him. As WWE continues to evolve, he made it clear he’s taking the last piece of its legacy, and it’s up to everyone else to deal with what comes next.

“Here’s the thing—there’s gonna be a show. Everybody’s replaceable. There’s always another show. I’m going to make wrestling start over. That championship is coming home with me. I’m going to be the last Undisputed WWE Champion, period. So they’re going to have to make a new title. They’re going to have to start the clock again, and whoever is that first champion—whether it’s Cody Rhodes, Dom, Bron Breakker—they’ll be the first one.

Bruno, Hogan, Austin, Rock, HBK, Taker, CM Punk—that comes home with me because that’s what I’ve earned. I want to write history, and I’m gonna put my stamp on the business by taking that piece of the business home with me. We talk about how the business is changing—well, I’m taking the last piece of tradition of the business home with me. And you guys can figure out how to settle the dust when I’m gone.”

John Cena’s bold declaration signals a seismic shift in WWE’s championship landscape. By taking the Undisputed WWE Title with him, Cena isn’t just leaving a void—he’s forcing WWE to redefine its legacy from scratch. Whether fans love it or hate it, Cena is rewriting history on his terms, and the next chapter begins with a brand-new title and a new face to carry it.
