Becky Lynch’s big comeback at WrestleMania 41 should’ve been a feel-good moment. After nearly a year away from the ring, The Man returned to a massive ovation, teamed with Lyra Valkyria, and walked out of Allegiant Stadium as one-half of the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. But the celebration didn’t last long—because by Monday morning, Lynch found herself trending online under a new, not-so-flattering nickname: “Becky Hogan.”
The term began catching fire on X/Twitter on April 21, 2025, just hours after her win. Wrestling fans compared her return and immediate title victory to Hulk Hogan’s infamous backstage reputation during his heyday—when Hogan was known for parachuting into title scenes, calling the shots creatively, and often walking away with gold.
One fan posted: “Becky Hogan strikes yet again. She’s a cancer to the women’s division,” implying that Lynch’s surprise reappearance and championship win stifled others in the division.
Another echoed that frustration: “Becky Hogan returns and immediately wins a title. But it’s only an issue when Charlotte does?”—highlighting the ongoing debate around favoritism in WWE, with some feeling Lynch receives the same treatment often criticized when it happens to Charlotte Flair.
Some fans mocked her unapologetic return, writing: “Ladies and Gentlemen, BECKY HOGAN!!! #WrestleMania” while others were more direct, tweeting: “F*ck Becky Hogan #WrestleMania”—with one user attaching an edited image of Becky dressed as Hulk Hogan, red-and-yellow gear and all.
One of the more sarcastic replies said: “Becky Hogan strikes again!”—a copy-paste-style tweet that dozens echoed verbatim in reaction threads.
But despite the flood of memes, backlash, and accusations of “politicking,” Becky Lynch didn’t back down. During the WrestleMania 41 post-show press conference, she addressed speculation about whether her return meant she’d be working a limited schedule. “Yeah, The Man don’t do part-time,” Lynch said bluntly. “When I go, I go hard. I go hard until I can’t go no more, or until I take another break.”
She also explained why she chose to come back for this particular moment: “It’s WrestleMania, isn’t it? Lyra needed a partner. Bayley, unfortunately, got taken out—we all saw that. I was already here, watching my husband [Seth Rollins] main event in a hell of a match.”
Lynch went on to express how proud she was to return alongside Valkyria: “I’m so proud of her. Of course I’ll be there in a heartbeat.”
When asked about her time away, Lynch showed zero regret. “It was amazing. I wouldn’t give it back for the world,” she told Stephanie Hypes of Bodyslam.net. “Getting to get [my daughter] Roux into activities and into school and having a routine. It’s been the best and the most important thing I’m ever going to do. I love my family more than anything. The thing that I love next to that is wrestling.”
She ended with high praise for Valkyria, adding: “To be here on her first WrestleMania, to be a contributing factor for her walking out of WrestleMania—Lyra Two Belts—that’s really quite amazing.”
So while Lynch is getting heat online, she’s staying focused on what matters most to her—family, full-time wrestling, and building the next generation.
