WWE’s latest move to expand its global influence is official—and Triple H is already celebrating the partnership with one of AAA’s brightest stars.
During the Countdown to WrestleMania 41 show, Michael Cole announced that WWE has acquired the legendary Mexican lucha libre promotion AAA. The deal was made in collaboration with Mexico-based holding company Fillip. Triple H, AAA General Manager Dorian Peña, and representatives from Fillip were present at the live announcement.
Dorian Peña reflected on the moment, saying, “This is the beginning of a new chapter in the story of lucha libre. My uncle, my father, and my mother — they’ve been running AAA for almost 33 years. To finally be working with WWE, we told our luchadores that we are proud. Very proud.”
Shortly after the announcement aired, Triple H posted on Instagram alongside Hijo del Vikingo, who appeared in full gear doing his iconic finger-pointing pose. In the caption, Triple H shared his excitement for the partnership:
“A partnership that will benefit the entire world of sports-entertainment. @luchalibreaaa has been a cultural mainstay in Mexico and the home to many @wwe Superstars. This partnership will guarantee that AAA remains the premier destination for wrestling in Mexico. A special thank you as well to Patrick Dooley & Kevin Rohnke from @tkogrp for helping to make this possible. Get ready for these two worlds to collide soon… The future flies here 🔥”
The announcement comes just ahead of NXT Worlds Collide, which will take place June 7 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California—and will now include AAA talent on the card.
