Finn Balor isn’t ready to bring back “The Demon”—at least not yet.

While speaking on The Ringer Wrestling Show with David Shoemaker and Kazeem Famuyide, Balor opened up about his iconic alter ego, which hasn’t been seen since he lost to Edge in a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 39. That marked back-to-back losses for the persona, who previously only lost once during Balor’s NXT run.

When asked about the status of The Demon, Balor kept it real. “I feel like there is a time and a place for The Demon and it hasn’t been right for probably a couple of years,” he said. “That’s something that needs to be fixed and addressed and something I want to go back to in the future.”

Balor said he doesn’t feel this weekend is the right time either. “Right now, I don’t feel like, certainly this is the weekend for it,” he admitted. “For whatever reason, it was kind of overused, a little bit. I don’t even know if overused is the right word, but it wasn’t used as effectively as I would have wished in the past.”

And next time it returns, Balor wants more control. “In the future, if we do it again, I would like to have more creative input in how it’s done, and I feel I’m in a good place now that I would be able to.”

Balor is set to compete at WrestleMania 41 in a fatal four-way match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker, Dominik Mysterio, and Penta. Whether he shows up as The Demon or not, fans know he’s ready to deliver.
