Shawn then runs through HHH’s nicknames, accomplishments and rivalries with Punk, Cena, Rock, Austin and Reigns. Shawn then says he is biased as he is his best friend, but he was there in the beginning and brings up The Kliq. Shawn then says HHH didn’t walk in the door wanting to be the man he is today: “the most powerful man in pro-wrestling.” Shawn then says he just wanted to be a pro-wrestler. Shawn then brings up the idea that HHH wouldn’t be where he is without marrying the boss’ daughter. Shawn then says those people are wrong as all he did was fall in love with a beautiful woman and he worked harder than anyone else. Shawn then goes back to Steph as he knows Steph wondered about Shawn’s relationship with HHH and he admits his wife has done the same. Shawn then says. the only time they ever kissed was on live television in front of everyone. Shawn then says that’s the truth Steph and I am sticking to it. Shawn then says HHH does everything with genuine intent and gets emotional as he is about to talk about what HHH has done for him. Shawn then notes HHH learned a lot of the what to do and not to do from him Shawn then says HHH staying his friend for so long was probably a bad business decision. Shawn then says Hunter would not leave him because of the type of human being he is and the type of human being he was raised to be. Shawn then says he is not bitter about people liking the second DX over his version. Shawn then moves to HHH’s biggest accomplishment to the future of the business: NXT. Shawn then says they would talk about a place with passion like that when they drove up and down the roads. Shawn then says people would say you can’t build a WWE Superstar and he knows HHH thought, “why the hell not?” Shawn then mentions if you look at WrestleMania’s card it is damn near all NXT stars. Shawn then says HHH made a call to Shawn to swing by NXT and see what he thinks. Shawn then says it started 2 hours a day and 3 days a week to a non-stop 24/7 grind that virtually never ends and he would not change it for the world. Shawn then gets choked up when he brings out HHH and tells him that he loves him.
Triple H comes out and hugs Shawn Michaels as the crowd chants his name. He jokes that he’s been crying backstage for 15 minutes and if he passes out, someone should drop an elbow on him. He says he’s not great at talking when emotional, but he’s lucky to have a friend like Shawn, who makes him feel like the richest man alive.
He thanks everyone for being there and gives a special shout-out to Motörhead and Lemmy, who gave him his iconic entrance music and friendship.
Triple H introduces Rich Herring, the Warrior Award recipient. Herring has been with WWE for 55 years, helping behind the scenes like “The Wolf” from Pulp Fiction—someone who always solves problems.
When WWE’s Nick Khan told him about the Hall of Fame plan, he didn’t know what to say. Some people give long speeches, like Mr. T still talking about his mom. But the more he thought about it, the more he realized this wasn’t just about him—it was about the people who helped him get here.
He talks about growing up in New Hampshire, watching Chief Jay Strongbow with his dad. That moment sparked his love for wrestling. His parents taught him to work hard, and he jokes his mom taught him the wild stuff he did in DX. He also mentions it’s their 61st anniversary tonight. His sister Lynn, who once stood up to his bullies, also inspired him by turning her life around after a health scare.
At 14, he started hitting the gym and fell in love with it. A man named Brian helped him learn how to lift, and they’ve been friends for 40 years. Around that time, Arnold Schwarzenegger inspired him too—with his movies and books about hard work paying off.
He got his break with Killer Kowalski, who trained him in a rough boxing ring and believed in him from day one. Triple H still shares the advice Kowalski gave him with young talent today.
Eric Bischoff took a chance on him in WCW. He also thanks Dusty Rhodes, who mentored him and reminded him how hard the job of booking is. Triple H gets emotional talking about Dusty and tells Cody Rhodes how much his dad meant to him.
Arn Anderson gave him the job after a dark match and even used to take him out afterward—especially because Triple H didn’t drink and could drive. He also recalls late-night Popeye’s chicken runs. Harley Race was another mentor who once gave earrings to Triple H’s newborn daughter.
He mentions early help from “Stunning” Steve Austin and Mick Foley, who always showed kindness. Terry Taylor and Steve Regal taught him a lot too. Regal even told him to leave WCW and go to WWF, where he’d be a star.
Once in WWE, he didn’t know anyone and traveled alone—until Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman picked him up one day. They clicked right away, talking business nonstop. He shares a funny story about their first night together at Denny’s that involved too many drinks and a trip to the emergency room. That was the start of the Kliq, and they became like family. He says Hall was a genius, Nash saw wrestling like a movie, Waltman was the standard, and Shawn could do it all.
Triple H also reflects on working with amazing talent over the years. He formed DX with Shawn and credits Chyna as the glue that held it together. Without her, the group may not have lasted. He loved the second version of DX too—with Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, and X-Pac.
He says Mick Foley brought out his toughness and helped make some of his best matches, like their Street Fight and Hell in a Cell bouts. Foley remains one of his favorite people and opponents.
Triple H talks about Ric Flair next, calling him his hero and the greatest of all time. He says Evolution changed the business. The idea was to help two young guys—Randy Orton and Dave Bautista—become stars. Seeing them grow into who they are today inspired him to give back. He thanks Randy for being a pain in the ass because it helped him grow, then jokes about his estrogen levels getting too high from all the emotion.
He thanks the doctors, especially Dr. James Andrews, for putting him back together after so many injuries. Without them, he wouldn’t have been able to finish his career the way he did.
Triple H says back in 1996, he got invited to sit in on WWE production meetings and soaked in everything from Pat Patterson, Jack Lanza, and George “The Animal” Steele. Pat Patterson taught him how to put matches together and told him he had a future in creative. That advice helped him create NXT and the Performance Center, which became one of the most meaningful parts of his career.
He gives credit to NXT’s original stars—Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Bayley—saying they became his “fountain of youth.” Shawn Michaels found that same energy when he joined him at NXT, and it made them both feel like they had something special again.
He jokes that Michael Hayes probably already left the building but calls him this generation’s Pat Patterson. He thanks Bruce Prichard for always navigating difficult roles in the company and praises lead writer Ed for everything he’s helped create. Triple H also shouts out the production crew, saying none of this would happen without them.
Then he brings up Paul Heyman and gets emotional again—dropping the first F-bomb of the night, joking it’s fitting because it’s about Paul. He jokes that he’s going long just to annoy Shawn Michaels, who has to be at NXT in 15 minutes. Triple H thanks Linda McMahon and says he loves her. He says Shane McMahon is the brother he never had and begs him not to jump off anything dangerous again.
Finally, he talks about Vince McMahon. He admits their relationship is complicated, but says he wouldn’t be here without Vince. Vince wasn’t just a boss and mentor—he became his father-in-law and the grandfather of his kids. “I love you Vince. Thank you.”
Triple H moves on to The Undertaker and says there’s no one he respects more in the business. He shares a story about sitting with The Kliq at a bar when Taker gave him the nod and shared a drink. That moment meant everything. Later, when he started dating Stephanie McMahon, he worried it might ruin both of their careers. He asked Taker what to do, and Taker told him: “If you love her, go get it. And anyone who doesn’t like it can f** off.”* That advice changed his life.
He then talks about his health scare from a few years ago. He thought he had pneumonia, but it turned out he was in heart failure. Everything changed. He wasn’t thinking about shows or meetings—just Stephanie and their daughters. He learned that life is a gift, and small stuff doesn’t matter anymore. “This can all end tomorrow, for anyone.”
He speaks about his daughters next. Aurora made sure he mentioned her tonight. In his mind, she and her sisters are still little girls sitting on his briefcase backstage. His middle daughter, Murphy, plays high school football with the boys because she wanted to prove she could. Vaughn, the youngest, is 14 going on 40, and always full of joy. He tells all of them: “You can do anything. Just work your ass off.”
Then it’s time to talk about Stephanie. Triple H says he’s not sure he can even get through it. “She’s my everything.” He says one word sums it up: “Forever.” He jokes that it all started with him just wanting a better spot in the company—now it’s 20 years and three kids later. “I’m all in on that shit.”
He closes by thanking Nick Khan, calling him the best businessman he’s ever met. Nick always has the answers in real time, and this entire weekend wouldn’t be possible without him. He says Nick hates attention, so everyone should go thank him this weekend—just to mess with him.
As he wraps up, Triple H says deep down, he’s still just that kid from New Hampshire who fell in love with wrestling. Tomorrow, he’ll be watching the best talent in the world do what they do—and in his heart, he’ll still be that same kid. Everyone he mentioned tonight helped him go from a fan with a dream to living that dream every day.
