WWE announced NXT Europe in 2022 after ending NXT UK. The goal was to rebuild the brand and create more chances for European wrestlers. Because of this change, many NXT UK wrestlers were let go. But the plan was delayed for a long time, and some fans thought it might never happen. With that said, Triple H has now confirmed the future of NXT Europe once and for all.
While speaking to Daily Mail, Triple H talked about WWE’s plans to grow around the world and gave an update on NXT Europe. The Game confirmed that NXT Europe is still alive. He said he remains confident in the potential of the UK market, which was gaining momentum before the COVID-19 pandemic halted progress and limited talent movement.
“It is. I’m still a big believer that the UK was going to work. The product was there, the interest level was there – the pandemic squashed it. For years we couldn’t move people, we couldn’t bring people in and it just shut it down. I still believe it’s there.”
Triple H also said WWE wants to give wrestlers around the world more chances to grow. He explained that outside of WWE, it can be hard for wrestlers to find the right support or training. WWE’s system can help teach and guide new talent, making it easier for them to succeed.
“The opportunity in this industry… is few and far between outside of WWE, where you’re kind of just trying to do it on your own,” he said. “It’s as if you have an instrument but no one is teaching you how to play it… But if you have somebody teaching you, mentoring you, it makes it so much easier. That’s what this is about.”
Triple H previously admitted that WWE and UFC’s merger had slowed down plans for NXT Europe and many felt that plans for NXT Europe might have been abandoned altogether.
NXT Europe was first seen as a big move in WWE’s plan to grow internationally, giving wrestlers from all over Europe, not just the UK, a chance to shine. Now that Triple H has confirmed it’s still happening, it looks like plans are finally moving forward again and so we’ll have to see when the brand will become a reality.
