Bad Bunny isn’t just showing up for a paycheck—he’s raising the standard for every celebrity stepping into a WWE ring.

During The Ankler’s Business of Entertainment program at the NAB Show, WWE President Nick Khan gave major props to the global music star for how seriously he took his role in the company’s ring. Reflecting on Bunny’s unforgettable performance at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico, where he defeated Damian Priest in a brutal San Juan Street Fight, Khan made it clear: the bar has officially been raised.

“We think Bad Bunny set a new bar in terms of celebrities who want to come into wrestling,” Khan said. “That guy put in the work. If you saw his match or remember his match, he did everything asked of him and beyond. He was early, showed up, set a new bar for us where everyone else who comes into it is expected to be held up to that standard. To their credit, they have been.”

According to Khan, Bunny is still stunned WWE let him go all out. “I ran into Bad Bunny at some unrelated sporting event after he did the match with us and the first thing he said to me was, ‘Brother, I’ve watched my match 50 times. I still can’t believe you guys let me do it,’” Khan recalled. “I said to him, ‘We can believe you did it to the level you did.’ That match was incredible.”

Bad Bunny first stepped into the squared circle at WrestleMania 37, teaming with Damian Priest to take down The Miz and John Morrison. But it was his solo showing at Backlash that solidified him as more than just a guest star—he was a main-event-level performer.

As of now, there’s no word on when—or if—Bad Bunny will return to WWE action. But one thing’s clear: the man takes his matches as seriously as his music.
