Brock Lesnar’s name hasn’t been on WWE programming since SummerSlam 2023, and now, months later, the company is doing everything it can to scrub him from the spotlight. But despite WWE distancing itself from The Beast Incarnate, a Hall of Famer believes Lesnar’s story with WWE isn’t over just yet.

WWE legend JBL weighed in on the Lesnar situation during a recent episode of the Something to Wrestle podcast. When asked by host Conrad Thompson about the possibility of a Brock Lesnar return, JBL didn’t hesitate: “Like anybody, you still like the limelight, and the temptation to come back, and it’s not just the limelight. There’s gonna be a figure that comes that has two commas in it that they’re gonna offer him to come back, and I think he’ll take it and I hope he does.”

Lesnar’s return status has been a topic of debate since he was removed from creative plans in early 2024 after being named in the lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against Vince McMahon, WWE, and others. While the lawsuit never directly confirmed anything about Lesnar’s involvement, it was enough for WWE to hit pause on his appearances—including scheduled spots at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.

As previously reported by Ringside News, Lesnar’s contract was quietly placed on hold, and he remains frozen out of WWE programming until legal issues clear up. There hasn’t been a release, and insiders believe WWE doesn’t want to risk Lesnar jumping ship to AEW or any other promotion.

But in the meantime, WWE appears to be rewriting history. The company posted a video counting down Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania main events—and completely cut out Brock Lesnar from the montage, despite Reigns facing him at WrestleMania 31, 34, and 38. Footage of The Undertaker, Triple H, and Cody Rhodes made the final cut. Lesnar did not.

Ironically, Lesnar’s name was mentioned on the April 11 episode of SmackDown. In a promo, Cody Rhodes referenced past battles against the former Universal Champion while hyping up his match against John Cena.

Lesnar hasn’t addressed any of this directly, but when approached by a Ringside News correspondent at a steakhouse in Austin, Texas, and asked if he was returning, Lesnar kept it short: “We’ll see.”

Meanwhile, a fan post on Instagram recently claimed that Lesnar personally told them he was retired from the ring. That post was later deleted after it was revealed to be fabricated.

So where does that leave us? With Brock Lesnar still out of sight, still under legal scrutiny, and still erased from promotional material—but with just enough smoke to keep the conversation alive.

Do you think WWE should offer Lesnar the two-comma payday JBL talked about—or should they let him ride off into the sunset for good? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
