Tiffany Stratton isn’t just defending her WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 41—she’s out to make a statement to the woman she used to idolize.
In a new interview with Onefall podcast’s Jan Murphy, Stratton opened up about what this match really means to her. And spoiler: it’s way deeper than just six weeks of build or a Royal Rumble pick.
“I think this match doesn’t even start with the past six weeks,” Stratton explained. “It doesn’t even start with her winning the Royal Rumble and her picking me. I think it starts with she’s the reason why I got into wrestling. She is who I looked up to, who I saw on my TV screen, who I idolized.”
Stratton isn’t playing coy about the impact Charlotte Flair had on her career, admitting she had “already set in my mind that she is a dream match of mine, even before I got signed to WWE.”
But make no mistake—this isn’t about staying in the shadow of The Queen.
“She’s obviously one of my idols, and at WrestleMania, I think this is when I solidify that I am the new generation and I’m here to take her place,” Stratton declared.
With all the real-life tension already boiling over from their unscripted promo war on SmackDown and the chaos that’s followed, the pressure is on. This match may have started with admiration, but it’s ending with a takeover attempt in front of the entire wrestling world.
