Drew McIntyre’s WrestleMania status has been up in the air ever since he got a shard of debris in his eye courtesy of Damian Priest—but now it’s official.

WWE finally pulled the trigger on April 10, locking in McIntyre vs. Priest for WrestleMania 41, live from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis made the news public in a video announcement posted to WWE’s social media, with the company tweeting: “BREAKING: #SmackDown GM @RealNickAldis has just made the following match OFFICIAL for #WrestleMania — @DMcIntyreWWE vs. @ArcherOfInfamy.”

McIntyre, who’s been rocking an eye patch since the brutal March 28 SmackDown attack, wasn’t about to let a legit injury derail his WrestleMania moment. In a recent interview with The Overlap US, he said flat-out: “There is no way in hell I’m going to miss WrestleMania.” He also name-dropped the man calling the creative shots, Triple H, as someone who understands what it takes to push through: “He’s fought through quads being torn off his body.”

WWE originally had concerns about McIntyre’s condition. There were even rumors that real glass had to be removed from his eye—but later reports clarified that it wasn’t glass after all. He was checked by medical staff and cleared, but the patch stayed on, and the doubts lingered.

Now, with Nick Aldis’ announcement, the speculation is over. McIntyre will step into the ring with Damian Priest at WrestleMania 41, making it one of the final pieces of WWE’s 14-match mega-card across both nights.

This adds serious heat to the already stacked lineup, which includes CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, Gunther vs. Jey Uso, and Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena.
