AEW Dynasty ended in total chaos for Adam Copeland—and now we know why things got so violent.

After taking a savage post-match attack from FTR during the AEW World Trios Championship bout, the WWE Hall of Famer is expected to be off television for a few months. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer dropped the update, saying: “I don’t expect him back until July, so he will miss the next pay-per-view. I think he’ll be out for a while.”

This confirms what fans suspected after Copeland took a brutal con-chair-to from Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler following their loss to the Death Riders. The match itself was a show-stealer, with Rated FTR nearly toppling Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta—until things unraveled fast.

Despite coming up short, Rated FTR stood tall in the ring together after the match. That unity didn’t last long. Dax suddenly turned, smashing Copeland and signaling Cash to join in. Cash hesitated and shoved Dax—but then joined in the assault, delivering a piledriver onto a steel chair before executing two con-chair-tos.

Philly fans were stunned. The arena, once red hot, was left in shocked silence as medics helped Copeland out of the ring. It now appears that the attack was AEW’s way of writing the legend off TV for the time being.

With Copeland reportedly gone until AEW All In in July, the question now turns to what FTR’s betrayal means moving forward—and who will step up in Cope’s absence.
