Melina was one of the mainstays of the WWE women’s division during the early to late 2000s, and it’s been quite a while since fans have seen her inside a WWE ring. With rumors about a second Evolution Premium Live Event taking place this year, Melina has now addressed returning at the event.
While speaking to Ten Count Wrestling, Melina addressed the rumors about WWE potentially bringing back the Evolution premium live event this year and the possibility of her returning for it.
Melina said she would love to be part of the show, but doesn’t feel like she needs to be included to be happy about its return. For her, the most important thing is that Evolution happens, as she believes the women deserve it and that it should be an annual event.
“Oh my goodness, you know what—okay, I’m happy for Evolution. Like, I don’t need to be in it. I don’t need to be in it. I would love to, but I don’t need to.
I’m just happy because it’s a show, it’s a pay-per-view that needs to happen. The women deserve that. They deserve it. It should happen every year. So I’m so excited. It has to be true, please let it be true.”
Melina mentioned several possible opponents she’d love to face, including Asuka and Naomi, although she admitted she would prefer teaming with Naomi instead of wrestling against her because of their close friendship.
“And if I were to have a match… I don’t know, there are just so many good people. You know, I keep saying like, Asuka and I, and then I say Trinity—even though I’d rather tag with her because I love her too much to go against her. I love her so much.”
Melina also praised the current women’s division, especially in NXT, calling it a “kid in a candy store” situation because of all the exciting new talent. When asked about a possible return in a battle royal, she agreed it would be fun.
Melina said there are so many wrestlers she’d love to step in the ring with, especially at an event like Evolution, which brings together stars from the past, present, and future.
But there’s so much new talent now. Like, NXT is showcasing so many fresh faces. It’s like being a kid in a candy store. So, battle royal and I win, right?
I was going to say, there are so many people I want to wrestle. I think everyone wants to see me back—especially at Evolution, because that’s when you bring everyone together from the past, the present, and the future.”
Melina’s love for women’s wrestling is easy to see in everything she says. Whether she wrestles at Evolution 2025 or just supports from the sidelines, it’s clear she cares deeply about the sport and the women in it. With WWE bringing back Evolution, we’ll have to see what role Melina will play at the event.
