WWE Hall of Famer RVD always stays true to himself and he never lets anyone talk him down, especially people online. Many fans have accused him of being a WWE shill since he is under a Legends deal and he has now addressed the same.
While speaking on The A2TheK Wrestling Show, RVD confirmed that he is under a Legends deal with WWE, which he has had since either 2020 or 2021. He mentioned that many people only recently found out about it, leading to a sudden change in their opinions. Some assumed that his comments were influenced by being paid by WWE, but he clarified that this wasn’t the case.
“I am under a Legends deal. Um, have been since, um, probably 2020, I think—maybe 2021. People just found out, so then all of a sudden, their opinion of me changes—’Oh, he’s saying that because he’s getting paid by them.’ It doesn’t work that way.”
The Whole F’n explained that he has always been honest about everything, no matter who he was working for. After talking to fans on X, he realized that many don’t really know his career. They just have an idea of who he is, and if the real him doesn’t match that, they get upset. In the end, he said that’s just how things are.
“But I’m understanding now, especially from talking to fans on X, that a lot of them must have missed my career. They just know who I am, and they have an image in their mind of who I am. And if it doesn’t match the real me, then they’re butthurt about it, you know? But that’s just—that’s just the way it is.”
This comes after RVD criticized AEW for its violent spiked 2×4 spot with Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite, which saw Moxley getting literally impaled on the spike, and this led to tons of discourse online.
RVD doesn’t back down from criticism. He says he speaks his mind no matter what, even with his WWE Legends deal. Whether people agree with him or not, he remains one of the most outspoken names in wrestling, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
