JD McDonagh has been off WWE TV since January 27 after a brutal landing on RAW left him with broken ribs and a punctured lung—but it looks like his comeback is just around the corner.

According to PWInsider Elite, the internal belief within WWE is that McDonagh is “very close to being cleared” and could return by the end of April. This lines up with earlier reports that WWE was hopeful he’d be back in action before WrestleMania 41.

McDonagh got hurt during a World Tag Team Title match while teaming with Dominik Mysterio against The War Raiders. While attempting a moonsault to the outside, McDonagh’s neck collided violently with the announce table. Despite suffering serious injuries, he refused medical help and shockingly finished the match.

The Judgment Day star has been sidelined ever since, and fans have been waiting for word on when he’ll get back in the mix—especially with WrestleMania on the horizon and faction warfare heating up.

Now that his return is on the table, WWE has to decide how to reintroduce him—whether back alongside Dominik or in a new direction entirely.
