Mickie James created a major debate in the wrestling world with her harsh comments about women’s gear on the March 30th episode of WWE LFG, specifically calling out Zena Sterling’s outfit. There was a lot of discourse surrounding James’ remarks but it appears Zena had a fitting response to what James had to say.

James said she liked Sterling’s ring gear but remembered how, during the Diva era, women worked hard to move away from wrestling in lingerie. She felt frustrated that some female wrestlers still wear revealing outfits and just thought that if women wanted to be taken seriously as wrestlers, they shouldn’t wear outfits that looked like “jazzed up lingerie.”

“I like your new gearI lived during the Diva era, and we fought very, very hard to not have to wrestle in lingerie anymore. Since because I am a female, I can speak on this. It’s very frustrating when women go out there and wrestle and all I see is their ass. I can’t look past that—it’s all I see. It’s very distracting.

You want to be taken seriously as a wrestler, but you are pretty much wrestling in jazzed-up lingerieAnd that’s my opinion. And that’s coming from someone who’s had their ass on TV a lot.”

Zena responded to the whole controversy on Twitter by posting a photo of a pink outfit that covered the entire body, including the face, clearly mocking Mickie’s comments. She joked that Mickie wouldn’t have to criticize her gear anymore since she had just ordered a new set, asking fans if they liked it.

“Won’t catch me getting yelled at for my gear anymore by @MickieJames … just ordered a new set 😌🤗Do u guys like it??!! #WWELFG #TeamBubba”

This comes after quite a few people on social media called out Mickie James for her double standards, as many fans felt James had no right to comment on Sterling’s gear considering the fact that James used to wear skimpy gear during her time in WWE.

Zena Sterling has taken the criticism in stride and remains focused on becoming a major star in WWE LFG. She is determined to make a name for herself, and only time will tell how her journey unfolds in the company.
