Mickie James lit up WWE LFG with her blunt take on women’s wrestling gear—but now, a former TNA Knockout has chimed in, and she’s not holding back.
After James criticized women for wrestling in what she called “jazzed up lingerie” and said it was “very distracting” to watch matches when all she could see was “their ass,” fans and fellow wrestlers lit up the comments. But the latest voice in the debate might be the most ironic twist yet.
A former TNA Knockout Velvet Sky—known for famously showing her backside during her entrance as part of her act—jumped into the conversation by commenting on the video clip shared by Ringside News. Her response?
“I feel attacked! lol nothing wrong with sex appeal in wrestling. Diva era or not. I personally find nothing wrong with her gear. Just my opinion but what do I know? 🤣 Let the pigeons loose, Zena! 🤣”
The comment was a clear defense of Zena Sterling, the LFG competitor whose gear Mickie had praised—while also using the moment to call out James for what many see as hypocrisy. Fans were quick to point out Mickie’s own past in WWE, from her risqué gear to moments like making a V-sign at WrestleMania and kissing another woman on camera during the Vince McMahon era.
Mickie defended her stance by saying, “You want to be taken seriously as a wrestler, but you are pretty much wrestling in jazzed-up lingerie,” adding, “That’s my opinion. And that’s coming from someone who’s had their ass on TV a lot.”
Social media didn’t let it slide. One fan clapped back with, “C’mon bruhhh – let them wrestle in the gear they want…” while another said, “Sounds like a bitter older woman who’s hating for zero reason.”
With former Knockouts now weighing in, the debate has only gotten louder. And with Mickie James’ Diva-era past still fresh in fans’ minds, it’s clear this conversation isn’t going away any time soon.
