Josh Alexander’s next move has been a hot topic ever since he wrapped up his TNA Wrestling contract, and all signs have pointed to him joining AEW. But weeks have passed, and fans are still waiting for The Walking Weapon to make his debut. Now, there’s an update on what’s causing the delay.

During a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp was asked directly about Alexander’s AEW status and whether the deal is still happening. According to Sapp, Alexander is still expected to sign with All Elite Wrestling, but the holdup appears to be paperwork-related.

“The last I heard was that he was headed to All Elite Wrestling. When I asked about his status, one source claimed he was likely working on getting his visa squared away, which is why he’s been able to appear on Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling as well.”

This would explain why Alexander was able to make a surprise appearance at MLP’s Mayhem Night Two in Windsor, where he helped The Jet Setters fend off Blake Christian and Sheldon Jean. Since MLP is a Canadian promotion, Alexander wouldn’t need to finalize his U.S. work visa to compete there.

AEW has been known to run into visa issues with international talent before, so if this is the case, fans might have to wait a little longer before Alexander officially walks through the Forbidden Door. With AEW already packed with top-tier talent, it’ll be interesting to see where he fits in once he finally arrives.
