AEW has a wide variety of stars from all sorts of backgrounds and skill levels, but it’s a proven fact that a name holds a lot of weight behind a star’s presentation. Interestingly enough, a former AEW talent was responsible for getting AEW to change the name of a new tag team as well.

Earlier this week, AEW had officially named Kommander and Hologram’s team as “The Lucha Stars,” which wasn’t well received by many at all. This especially included former AEW talent Jose The Assistant, who was very vocal about just how bad it sounded.

AEW eventually changed named Kommander and Hologram’s team name to Los Titanes del, as they will face Dralistico and Beast Mortos on Collision this week. In response to the change, Jose the Assistant went on Twitter and thanked the company for listening and making the change while also hinting that there were other things he wanted to discuss. He ended his message by referring to himself as an honest friend.

“Thank you for listening and changing the name and you’re welcome. We can talk about a few other things also, since you’re reading my tweets. – Your always honest friend, Jose.”

A fan responded to Jose, reminding him that AEW was his most recent workplace and had supported him during difficult times. They advised him to avoid sounding ungrateful, as it wouldn’t help if he wanted to return to the company. They ended the message by wishing him luck.

“Jose, no offense but AEW is your more recent work place & for better or for worse provided for you during tough times. To come from a place of ungratefulness is not healthy for you. If you’re truly trying to open the door again, it’s not a smart way to go about it. Suerte en todo”

Jose replied to the fan, saying he was thankful for his time in AEW and the life it gave him. He said he wants the company to do well and that having a good product is important. He explained that the tag team name wasn’t good, fans agreed, and he was happy they changed it.

“I am very grateful for my time there and the life they allowed me to live because of it. I WANT THE COMPANY TO SUCCEED, and part of the success is having a good product and creative! It was a bad tag name, and I spoke up publicly and fans agreed online. Happy for the change.”

AEW’s decision to listen to both former talent and fans shows a level of openness that isn’t common in major wrestling promotions. Changing the tag team’s name so quickly truly shows the company’s effort to present its wrestlers in the best way possible and Jose is simply happy he was responsible for this change.

Do you think AEW made the right decision in changing Kommander and Hologram’s tag team name? Should Jose The Assistant take a more private approach to his concerns, or is public feedback beneficial? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
