John Cena stunned the wrestling world by turning heel and siding with The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber. His betrayal left many fans disappointed, and now even Cody Rhodes’ mother, Michelle Runnels, has blasted John Cena.

While speaking during an interview with Bill Apter for Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, Michelle Runnels admitted she was shocked by Cena’s actions and never saw it coming. While she acknowledged Cena was a friend of Cody’s and someone Dusty Rhodes knew, she stopped short of calling him a family friend.

Michelle didn’t hold back, saying Cena should be ashamed of himself, calling him an “a******” for turning on Cody after having such a respected career. With Cena now embracing the dark side, the road to WrestleMania 41 just got even more personal.

“I was just shocked. Completely shocked. I would have never, never thought that was going to happen. I mean, he was a friend of Cody’s, and, of course, Dusty knew him, but I wouldn’t call him a family friend. I would say, ‘John, you should be ashamed of yourself. You had a beautiful career. Everybody loved you and now you’re just an a*******.'”

John Cena won the Elimination Chamber match and will be challenging Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, and Cena is expected to make his WWE television return during the March 17th edition of Monday Night RAW.

We will have to wait and see how WWE will book John Cena and Cody Rhodes’ feud in the coming weeks. One thing’s for sure and that’s the fact that Rhodes’ mother truly can’t stand John Cena anymore and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.

Do you agree with Michelle Runnels? Was John Cena’s heel turn a mistake, or is it the perfect setup for WrestleMania 41? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
