JD McDonagh’s horrific landing during the January 27 edition of WWE Raw resulted in broken ribs and a punctured lung, keeping him off WWE television ever since. Fans have been eagerly waiting for his return, and now McDonagh has provided an update, revealing a timeline for his comeback.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, JD McDonagh talked about his current condition following his injury. He stated that he is feeling much better, with his lungs and ribs in good condition, but he is still waiting for his bones to fully heal before being cleared to return.

McDonagh revealed he has resumed training, starting with low-impact cardio and skipping for a few weeks before progressing to Pilates and other non-impact exercises. However, he has yet to take a bump, which will be the next step in his recovery process.

McDonagh confirmed that his lung capacity has fully returned and expressed his eagerness to make a comeback. Watching his colleagues travel and compete has made him feel impatient and envious, as he would return immediately if he could.

“I’m feeling a lot better now—my lungs are good, my ribs are good. I’m just waiting for the bones to knit back together before they clear me. I punctured my lung with my seventh rib. It didn’t feel great.

I’m back in the gym. I was doing skipping and really low-impact cardio for a couple of weeks, and now I’ve progressed to Pilates and other non-impactful stuff. I haven’t taken a bump yet—that would be the next step.

Yes, I got full capacity in my lungs back, thank God. I’d love to be back yesterday. I’m so bored watching the boys travel around—I’m so jealous. If I could be back, I’d be back right now.”

Looking ahead, McDonagh revealed his timeline for a return, stating that he is aiming to be back within a month, though he acknowledged that his return will ultimately depend on WWE’s medical team giving him the green light.

“Hopefully, I’m going to put a timeframe on it and say within a month, I’ll be back. That’s what I’m working towards, and whether the WWE doctors align with that, we’ll see.”

With McDonagh aiming for a return soon, fans are eager to see what WWE will have planned for him and The Judgment Day. If he returns within a month, he could be back just in time for WrestleMania 41. Therefore, it simply remains to be seen whether he can get cleared in time for the event.
