The Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles included a lot of high-stakes matches for AEW Revolution 2025. Ricochet showed up to the famous arena with the intention of proving himself, but Swerve Strickland stood in his way.
Swerve Strickland and Ricochet competed in a #1 Contender’s Match for the AEW World Championship at AEW Revolution 2025. This storyline has been brewing for a while, with the One And Only jacking Prince Nana’s jacket for good measure.
This match went on third of the night, right after Mercedes Mone’s hard-fought TBS Title defense. Ricochet didn’t receive a ton of love from the LA crowd, because it was obvious that the Crypto.com Arena was Swerve’s House that night. Swerve also received a drum solo as part of his entrance.
Both men wanted to win this match for obvious reasons. They traded an advantage throughout, as Prince Nana also kept a focus considering the fact that his jacket was part of the storyline. SNL alum Leslie Jones was in the crowd, and she was 100% on Swerve’s side.
Ricochet took a brutal move on the announce table, but it didn’t break. Then Swerve landed a stomp from the top rope, but he only got a pinfall. As fans chanted for Strickland, he ran in, but was caught with a low blow. Ricochet took advantage of that, and he landed a few moves and a senton off the top rope, but that only got a two count.
Prince Nana ran up and took his jacket back, but even that distraction didn’t help Swerve win. The match continued with Ricochet nailing a suicide dive on Nana so he could put the jacket back on.
In the end, Swerve Strickland won the match after a string of near falls. This was a hard-fought match, and the LA arena popped in a big way when he finally pulled down the win. After the match, Swerve gave Nana his jacket back, and the two celebrated in the ring together.
We will have to see what is next in this storyline. AEW is certainly heating up, and Revolution was a big night for the company. Now we know that Swerve is on his way back to the top of the roster for another huge match.
