AEW’s roster is going through major changes, with more talent set to leave as their contracts expire. February 2025 already saw Malakai Black, Ricky Starks, and Miro exit the company, and now even more names have been added to the list.
Ricky Starks wasted no time making a fresh start, debuting as Ricky Saints in WWE NXT just a day after his AEW departure. Meanwhile, Rey Fenix is reportedly WWE-bound, pending medical clearance, and may have already signed with the company.
Now, Dave Meltzer has revealed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Abadon and Nick Comoroto have joined Zak Knight in leaving AEW.
Abadon, who first signed with AEW in June 2020, last wrestled in December 2023, losing to Julia Hart in an AEW TBS Championship House Rules match at Worlds End. Comoroto, who debuted in October 2020 on AEW Dark, was last seen in ROH on HonorClub on August 11, 2024, where he lost to Lee Johnson. After undergoing hip resurfacing surgery in August 2024, he was expected to be out until 2025.
Meltzer also noted that despite these departures, the AEW roster page has yet to reflect the changes, as updates tend to be slow.
With these exits, AEW President Tony Khan has addressed his evolving approach to contracts, stating he is now handling releases on a “case-by-case basis.”
AEW’s roster keeps shifting, and with more exits on the horizon, it’s clear Tony Khan is making some big calls behind the scenes. Whether these departures are part of a bigger strategy or just natural turnover, fans will be watching closely to see how AEW fills the gaps. With stars like Ricky Starks already finding new homes and Rey Fenix seemingly on his way out, the landscape of pro wrestling is shifting fast.
