Will Ospreay is a top star in AEW, known for his incredible in-ring skills. However, he also has critics who try to tear him down no matter what. Unsurprisingly, the Aerial Assassin has now responded to all of his critics.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Will Ospreay responded to criticism about his wrestling style in AEW, explaining that he still takes big risks, like the tombstone off the apron onto the stairs.

Ospreay admitted it was a silly move but said it looked great and got a big reaction. He believes AEW sometimes criticizes itself too much but makes it clear that he does these moves because he wants to. Unlike others who kick out and keep fighting, he simply rolls his shoulder off the mat. If people are talking about it, he sees that as a good thing.

“I still do those stupid bumps, like the tombstone off the apron onto the stairs—that was silly. It looked great, everyone reacted, which happens. This is where AEW complains about AEW. I just wanna do it. I’m not f****** kicking out and firing up and s*** like that—I just f****** roll my shoulder off. If people are popping off about it, sweet, you’re talking about it.”

When asked if WWE gets less criticism for similar moves, Ospreay said that if he had signed with WWE, people would be praising him nonstop. He thinks it’s important to separate opinions in wrestling because paying too much attention to criticism can drive a person crazy. Wrestling is his passion and his job, and he doesn’t care about the opinions of people who have never helped his career.

“No, but like, if I had gone there, they would be f***** wanking into tissues over me. It’s the same, man. You have to separate it, or else you’ll drive yourself insane. Wrestling is my passion and my job. If you have something you’re passionate about, you really don’t care about what people say who have never impacted your career.”

Ospreay admitted AEW has things to improve, but he doesn’t think the company is failing. AEW is the second most profitable wrestling company ever, yet people focus on the negatives instead of its success. While he listens to helpful feedback, he doesn’t let criticism bother him. He knows he’s different and has created his own unique style in wrestling.

“Once upon a time, they were big hits. Anyone who’s ever complained about AEW, like the grifters—even if they say something, they’re not impacting our show. We’re the second most profitable wrestling company of all time, and that’s not talked about enough. Everyone just wants to dig on it. I get it—there are things we can improve on, and it’s fair to listen to some criticism, but for me, I don’t lose sleep over anyone trying to tell me how to wrestle.

Like, look at me—I’m a f****** idiot. I carved out this little lane for myself. I don’t let things get to me. Like, if someone says, ‘Oh, it’s s***.’ Why? ‘Oh, it’s just shit.’ Well, that’s not fair. But if you give me points and criticism that I can work on, then I’ll try my best to work on it.”

Ospreay noted that some people say his matches lack psychology, but he questions who these critics are and what they have done in wrestling. Many of them have little experience, and even if they wrestle on small indie shows, they need to grow and evolve. He encourages people to stop being negative and join in on the fun, reminding them that AEW is doing well despite the criticism.

“There’s a lot of people that say, ‘Oh, there’s no psychology.’ Who are you? Show me your face. What have you done?! They haven’t done anything, and if they have, they’re on these tiny indie shows. And that’s great for you—apply your trade—but after 15 years? Come on, boss. F******* get with the program. We’re here having fun—join us.”

Will Ospreay is one of the most exciting and popular wrestlers today for a ton of reasons. His unique wrestling style always entertains fans. Even though some people criticize him, he doesn’t let it bother him and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
