WWE SmackDown on February 28 kicked off in a big way, but one of the most interesting details of the night involved two men who appeared alongside Cody Rhodes. As WWE continues to build toward WrestleMania, The Rock’s presence has been looming over Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes—and that played out once again in Toronto.
The show opened with Joe Tessitore welcoming fans as the cameras cut to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A video package then recapped last week’s intense segment between The Rock and Rhodes, setting the stage for what’s next. That’s when Cody was seen backstage, getting approached by two men who were there to escort him to his new locker room, a gift from “The Final Boss” himself.
Ringside News has learned that it turns out that those two security guards weren’t just random extras. The men assigned to deliver The Rock’s message were actually independent wrestlers Jonny DeLuca and Jason Boa. Both wrestlers have made names for themselves on the indie circuit, and this was a major opportunity to get some screen time on WWE programming.
What do you think about WWE featuring Jonny DeLuca and Jason Boa in this segment? Do you think they could get more WWE screen time in the future? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
