The February 25 episode of WWE NXT in Cincinnati, Ohio was quite an episode from start to finish. You never know what they will do each week to shock fans, and this week was no different.
Stephanie Vaquer is enjoying her first reign as NXT Women’s North American Champion. She defended her title for the first time against Karmen Petrovic.
Vaquer won the championship by defeating Fallon Henley at Vengeance Day on February 15. Petrovic earned the No. 1 Contender spot by defeating Jaida Parker and Kelani Jordan in a Triple Threat Match on February 18’s NXT.
This match kicked off the show, and fans were more than ready to get it going. This marked Vaquer’s first title defense, and she wanted to obviously start things off on the right track.
Fans chanted for Stephanie Vaquer as they carried on, even though Karmen Petrovic did maintain control for a bit of time. It didn’t take very long for Vaquer to dominate the match in her own way.
Ashante Thee Adonis was in Karmen Petrovic’s corner, but that emotional support didn’t help her much. In the end, Stephanie Vaquer made quite a statement as she won with her finishing move.
After the match was over, Giulia came out to make it clear that she’s the best champion, and not Vaquer. They had a little back-and-forth before Giulia proposed that they find out who the best woman is. Vaquer said they’re friends, but a title for title match was still set. We will have to see when that dream match happens.
We will have to see what the next step is for Stephanie Vaquer. She certainly came into NXT with a lot of momentum, and we can’t wait to see what she does next as NXT Women’s North American Champion.
