Samantha Irvin’s WWE exit in October shocked fans, especially given her rapid rise as one of the company’s most recognizable voices. Since then, rumors have swirled about where she might land next, with AEW emerging as a likely destination. Now, a new update has added fuel to the speculation, hinting that Irvin could be making her way back to wrestling sooner than expected.
During Fightful Select’s Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp was asked whether Irvin was expected to debut at AEW Revolution. While he didn’t confirm anything outright, he acknowledged the growing chatter surrounding her future. “She’s backstage an awful lot, supporting Ricochet. I’d heard rumors there may be a non-compete associated with her WWE departure, but I’ve not had that confirmed.”
This isn’t the first time Irvin’s name has been linked to AEW. Since Ricochet—her fiancé—reportedly wrapped up his WWE contract, he has already made the transition to AEW. Given AEW’s willingness to sign former WWE talent and Irvin’s clear ability to elevate a show’s presentation, it wouldn’t be a shock to see her land there in some capacity.
Before her departure, Irvin had made it clear that ring announcing wasn’t her true passion, stating that she originally envisioned herself as a manager or even a General Manager-type figure in WWE. “I don’t like announcing. I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer.”
For now, Irvin has been focusing on her music career and filming for the second season of Churchy, a series she stars in. But with reports of her being a frequent presence backstage at AEW, it’s only a matter of time before she resurfaces in the wrestling world.
