AEW’s first major pay-per-view, Double or Nothing, debuted in 2019 and has since been regarded as one of the company’s top events, traditionally held in Las Vegas. Fans wondered where this year’s event would be held and now AEW has confirmed the date and location for this year’s show.
For the first time in company history, AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view will not be held in Las Vegas. Tony Khan confirmed the change in an interview with The Arizona Republic, announcing that the 2025 event will take place on Sunday, May 25, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
“We put on the best pay-per-view events in the wrestling business. The fans in the Phoenix area have been so incredible for AEW. We’ve done several shows around Phoenix and we’ve had great support from the fans. I had said after an amazing AEW event in Phoenix in the past that we would bring these great fans a pay-per-view event because they deserve it.”
We had previously reported that the location for this year’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view had been leaked in advance, so it comes as no surprise the company wasted no time in making the official announcement.
AEW moving Double or Nothing from Las Vegas to Arizona is a big change. It shows the company is open to trying new locations for its biggest events. With Phoenix having a strong wrestling fanbase, this could become a new tradition for AEW.
