WWE’s NXT brand presented the Vengeance Day premium live event at the CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C. The event featured multiple championship matches, and now the Dark Angel is champion.
One of the title matches tonight saw Fallon Henley defend the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Stephanie Vaquer. The NXT newcomer has been chasing this title for a while now, and many fans were waiting for her to finally capture the title.
This match kicked off the premium live event. Fallon Henley and the rest of Fatal Influence were very confident as they made their way to the ring. Kelani Jordan and Karmen Petrovich were both shown in the crowd as they watched on. This match also got started with big “Stephanie” chants for the challenger.
Stephanie Vaquer was able to tie Fallon Henley up with one submission hold after another, but the champion was able to get free early on, mostly by getting herself in the ropes.
Fans saw a counter to a counter over and over again as Stephanie Vaquer was seemingly one step ahead of Fallon Henley. At one point, Henley kicked Vaquer off a springboard attempt, which sent her out of the ring, so Jacy Jayne was able to nail a big boot on the challenger to help out her stablemate.
Fallon Henley tried to keep Vaquer down with a flurry of forearms, but that didn’t work. It didn’t take long for Stephanie Vaquer to rally with a sequence of hard-hitting offense. This resulted in Henley kicking out of several close counts.
Jacy Jayne nailed Stephanie Vaquer again, but that only resulted in a close two count. In the end, Vaquer took out the Fatal Influence girls at ringside. She then took everyone down with a high-risk dive to the outside. Then Vaquer nailed her finisher followed by a dive from the top for the win.
This marks Stephanie Vaquer’s first singles title in WWE. It was certainly a big win, and now she has cemented herself on top of the women’s roster.
