Josh Alexander’s run with TNA Wrestling is officially over, and now, one of the hottest free agents in the business is reportedly on his way to AEW.

Alexander has been represented by wrestling super-agent Barry Bloom—who also works with Kenny Omega and Jim Ross—to negotiate his next move. While WWE and AEW both had interest, it looks like the decision has been made.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that multiple sources, including those within AEW, expect Alexander to sign with the company if he hasn’t already. Meanwhile, WWE sources confirmed he hasn’t signed with them.

“There had been interest in the company using him last year,” Fightful noted regarding WWE’s pursuit of the former TNA World Champion.

Alexander’s final TNA iMPACT! match aired on February 13, where he took on Eric Young in a farewell showdown. His contract officially expired on February 14, making him free to sign anywhere.

His rise in TNA saw him dominate as part of The North alongside Ethan Page, winning the TNA Tag Team Titles twice before transitioning into a singles star. He went on to become a two-time TNA World Champion, with his second reign lasting a record-setting 335 days.

While Alexander has remained silent about his next move, he previously revealed he was leaving the negotiations to his agents, admitting:

“They don’t tell me much. They treat this very much like professional sports. There is no tampering, there is none of this stuff going on. They don’t want to tell me figures and numbers. It has been driving me crazy.”

With AEW now looking like his next home, the question is how Tony Khan will introduce him to the roster—and whether he’ll be slotted into the main event picture right away.
