Seth Rollins didn’t hold back when discussing a hypothetical WWE-AEW trade, but MJF wasn’t about to stay silent. Hours after Rollins’ comments went viral, MJF took to Twitter on February 8, 2025, with a response dripping in signature sarcasm.
“Who the hell is Luca Doncic? Indie guy?” MJF wrote, throwing shade at the comparison Rollins made between himself and the NBA superstar.
The drama started when Rollins, speaking with Sirius XM Sports, was asked to imagine an NBA-style trade between WWE and AEW. His take? AEW doesn’t have anyone worth trading for on WWE’s level.
“You’ll make some headlines with this one. I don’t think there is anybody in AEW that’s on that level. You’re probably looking at it, if you’re looking at a LeBron, that’s like a John Cena level guy. I’d be looking at John Cena for an MJF, maybe. That’d be the deal. Luka would be MJF. That’s the level. That’s how crazy that is.”
Rollins essentially said the only way a trade would make sense is if WWE sent John Cena to AEW in exchange for MJF, but even then, it was clear he didn’t see AEW’s roster as being on WWE’s level.
MJF, never one to back down from a verbal exchange, turned the tables with his tweet, playing dumb about Doncic while taking a jab at Rollins’ attempt to equate wrestling to the NBA.
The back-and-forth has already kicked off debates among fans. Is Rollins right? Does WWE really have a level of talent AEW just can’t match? Or is MJF proving why he belongs in the same conversation as WWE’s top stars?
