The drama between Drew McIntyre and LA Knight may have made headlines, but it didn’t last long. Despite McIntyre’s reported frustration over Knight “getting his stuff in” at the Royal Rumble, the two put their issues to rest on the February 7 episode of WWE SmackDown.

Heading into their Elimination Chamber qualifying match, Knight referenced McIntyre’s backstage reaction to his Rumble elimination. With a mix of humor and a sharp jab, Knight called McIntyre a “crier” and even slipped in a PSA about how “it’s always okay to have a good cry.” But before dropping his signature catchphrase, he took one final shot at McIntyre’s frustrations, joking about “getting his stuff in.”

While the promo may have sounded personal, sources via Fightful Select say there was no real tension between the two. WWE source also noted that their match got a little physical, but both men walked away fine, with no issues afterward. McIntyre had no problem with Knight’s promo either, as was evident from his reaction on TV.

One backstage source admitted that having the behind-the-scenes frustrations leak wasn’t ideal, but WWE saw it as an opportunity to turn real-life tension into entertainment. Both McIntyre and Knight played into the moment perfectly, making for an intense showdown ahead of the Elimination Chamber.

With the heat squashed and the match in the books, McIntyre and Knight are moving forward, but in WWE, nothing stays buried forever. With WrestleMania right around the corner, don’t be surprised if their paths cross again—especially if another “good cry” moment pops up.
