Joe Hendry Calls Out John Cena After WWE Royal Rumble Surprise

Joe Hendry made sure everyone remembered his name at the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble. The reigning TNA World Champion shocked the wrestling world by making a surprise entrance in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, lighting up Lucas Oil Stadium with a massive pop from the Indianapolis crowd.

Hendry put on an impressive showing, but his run was ultimately cut short when Roman Reigns eliminated him from the match. After the event, Hendry took to a WWE Digital Exclusive interview to reflect on his night—and he made it clear this won’t be the last time he crosses paths with Reigns.

“It’s unusual for Joe Hendry to be at a loss for words, but say his name, and he appeared here in Indianapolis at the biggest Royal Rumble of all time,” Hendry said. “Roman Reigns, congrats. You threw Joe Hendry over the top, and I’m willing to bet this isn’t the last time that you and I cross paths.”

But Hendry wasn’t done yet. Before wrapping up, he turned his attention to another massive name in WWE—John Cena.

“Before I go, I do want to share a little bit of knowledge that was bestowed on me by one John Cena,” Hendry continued. “He gave me four words, and it was, ‘Fortune favors the bold.’ So here I am, boldly saying John Cena’s name.”

The moment didn’t go unnoticed by Triple H, who kept up his tradition of posting a backstage photo with debuting or surprise talent. WWE’s Chief Content Officer shared an image of himself pointing at Hendry in front of the iconic WWE logo, adding even more fuel to speculation about Hendry’s future with WWE.
