AEW Dynamite’s January 31 episode rolled into Huntsville, Alabama’s Probst Arena. The night included a lot of big moments, and Jeff Jarrett continued his ride during this final year of his last pro wrestling contract.

Jeff Jarrett took on Claudio Castagnoli this week on AEW Dynamite. The match had a lot on the line, as if Double J can win, then he gets an AEW World Title shot against Jon Moxley.

This match was the second of the night after Will Ospreay beat Brian Cage in singles action. Jeff Jarrett got the upperhand early on in the match, but Claudio rolled out of the ring and called Wheeler Yuta to the ringside area to assist him with a distraction as they went to commercial break.

This match continued when we got back from the break, and Jeff Jarrett kept up with everything Claudio threw at him. That being said, Claudio was also right there to counter and endure everything Double J threw at him.

After Claudio hit a big wing, he locked in a sharpshooter. Jeff Jarrett held on, because he wanted to secure that title shot, and then Jarrett got a sharpshooter of his own on Claudio. Wheeler Yuta slid a chair in the ring and distracted Jarrett.

Claudio missed with a chair swing while the referee was distracted by Yuta. Then Jon Moxley ran in to hit a Paradigm Shift on Jarrett. That was followed by a Neutralizer by Claudio for the win.

This was a tough loss for Jeff Jarrett, but he might have had the win if Jon Moxley didn’t get involved. We will have to see what is next on his quest to hold another World Title before he hangs up his boots.
