WWE NXT Stars Left in the Dark About Royal Rumble Spots

The Royal Rumble is this weekend, but it looks like some NXT talent still have no clue if they’ll be a part of the show.

Chris Featherstone reported on Backstage Pass that NXT wrestlers are being left hanging, unsure whether they’ll even be in the match.

“Chris Featherstone has heard today that there are stars from the NXT brand who are currently unaware of whether or not they are going to appear in the Royal Rumble this upcoming weekend. Story developing,” the report stated.

WWE has included NXT talent in past Rumble matches, with last year’s event featuring Roxanne Perez, Tiffany Stratton, Carmelo Hayes, and Bron Breakker. Many expected the same trend this year, but with major names already confirmed—like John Cena, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins—spots might be even harder to come by.

If NXT does get some representation, the safest bets are the brand’s two major champions: Oba Femi and Giulia. Both won their titles at New Year’s Evil earlier this month, but former champions Trick Williams and Roxanne Perez could also be in the conversation.

Right now, WWE has announced four matches for the Royal Rumble, which goes down Saturday in Indianapolis, Indiana:

• Men’s Royal Rumble Match – Confirmed names so far: John Cena, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, Logan Paul, Jey Uso, Penta, Bron Breakker, Chad Gable, Rey Mysterio, Carmelo Hayes.
• Women’s Royal Rumble Match – Confirmed names so far: Bayley, Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, Naomi, Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair, Lyra Valkyria, Ivy Nile, Raquel Rodriguez, IYO SKY.
• Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens – Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
• #DIY (Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) (c) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) – Two-out-of-Three Falls Match for the WWE Tag Team Championships.

With the event just days away, NXT stars are still waiting on a decision. Will WWE find room for them, or will the stacked card leave them on the sidelines?
