WWE had a full episode for The CW on January 28 for NXT. There were a few good reasons to tune in, including catching the Women’s Tag Team Champions do their thing on Tuesday night.
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship was on the line this week as Bianca Belair and Naomi took on Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson of Meta-Four. This match was a long time coming, and there is no shortage of women’s who want to step up to Belair and Naomi.
This is interesting timing, because Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez just beat the champions on the January 27 episode of WWE RAW. That being said, anything was on that table when it came to NXT.
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match closed out NXT this week as the main event. The contest also received a big fight feel, thanks to Mike Rome, who got the Atlanta fans very excited about the match. After all, they wanted to witness history.
Jakara Jackson started things out against Bianca Belair, but then Lash Legend got the tag. Fans were all about seeing the EST of WWE and Legend lock up. Belair showcased her power and agility by hitting a powerslam and a standing moonsault for a near fall, but Lash Legend wasn’t going to give up without a real fight. Lash went on to hit her own moonsault for a two count.
This match stretched through a commercial break as the two teams battled in picture-in-picture. Lash Legend had her home city fans in Atlanta cheering for her in a huge way. In the end, Jakara Jackson almost got a roll-up pin on Naomi, but she was able to tag in Bianca Belair, get their double team move on her and retain their titles.
Fans were not incredibly happy that they didn’t get to see a title change, but they still cheered the champions as they celebrated at the end of the night. It was certainly a wild crowd for the main event. We will have to see how much longer this ride can last for Naomi and Bianca Belair, but they were able to leave Atlanta with their titles.
