With the Royal Rumble in sight, WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event came to San Antonio’s Frost Bank Center for the first time ever on January 25. That night included a few notable matches, including Rhea Ripley putting her title on the line in a big match.
The Women’s World Championship was up for grabs as Rhea Ripley defended her title against Nia Jax. The Irresistible Force is new to the RAW brand after a run on SmackDown, and she looked straight to the top of the roster.
This match got started early as Nia Jax landed a headbutt during Lilian Garcia’s introductions. Rhea Ripley quickly turned things around to get the upperhand on Jax. They went to commercial as the two continued the fight.
The two continued their match, as Rhea Ripley nailed a dive off the top to the floor on Nia Jax. When they returned to the ring, Jax took Ripley down and landed one of her finishers, but when she went for a second one, Ripley hit an electric chair drop.
Then Rhea Ripley hit at Riptide, and she picked up the clean win to retain her title. This was quite a way to kick off Saturday Night’s Main Event.
