The Royal Rumble premium live event on February 1st at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis has an unbelievable level of hype surrounding it. The hype is reflected in its ticket sales and it appears that the event is on track to breaking an all-time record.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE hasn’t officially confirmed this, but the high ticket prices and strong sales suggest it’s on track to break the record for the biggest non-WrestleMania gate in wrestling history.

So far, 55,751 tickets have been sold, with the stadium’s setup allowing for up to 65,000 fans. Meltzer also pointed out the strong resale market, with limited secondary listings and a high minimum ticket price of $181, making it one of the most expensive in pro wrestling history.

“WWE has not confirmed to us that the show will set the largest non-WrestleMania gate in history, but given the ticket prices and the way tickets have moved, it would appear to be in that direction. There was very limited secondary market movement as well, as the last word was 797 listings with a very strong $181 get-in price, the latter being among the largest in pro wrestling history.”

This comes as no surprise as the event has already been gaining momentum since last year and selling tickets like hotcakes. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see whether the Premium Live Event will truly end up breaking the record, as WWE is undoubtedly on the hottest streak in its history.
