WrestleMania is WWE’s biggest event and it’s known for being amazing and popular around the world. London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan has expressed a keen interest in bringing the event to the UK capital but there was uncertainty about the event ever taking place in London. After months of silence, it’s now clear that Khan is still working to make WrestleMania happen in London.
It was previously reported that WWE was discussing having a WrestleMania event take place in London. In fact, even Triple H revealed the reason why WWE is considering London as host for future WrestleMania. Fans were hoping it would become a reality after Triple H and Sadiq Khan had a very productive meeting abut the same last year, but no developments came after that, leading to fans being disappointed.
A spokesperson for the Mayor of London told the Daily Star that London has a strong history of hosting major international sports events. They confirmed that discussions are still ongoing about bringing WrestleMania to London. The Mayor is determined to make London a top destination for global sports and hopes to host the first international WrestleMania in the UK.
“London has great pedigree in hosting the biggest international sporting events from around the globe. The Mayor remains determined to bring even more sports from around the world to London, including the first international WrestleMania hosted by the UK, and continues to discuss future opportunities. The Mayor wants to cement London’s reputation as the undisputed sporting capital of the world, as we work together to build a better London for everyone.”
WrestleMania 41 is already scheduled for Las Vegas, with a future edition also set for Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and New Orleans is the current front runner for WrestleMania 42 as well.
As talks continue, fans are definitely waiting for an official announcement that could transform The Showcase of the Immortals. While it may take time, the fact that Mayor Khan is so determined to make this happen shows how much he believes in London’s potential to host WrestleMania. Therefore, we’ll have to see when WrestleMania will finally take place in London in the future.
