WWE is on the hunt for the next big star, and this time, they’re turning their focus to the UK and European wrestling scene.
Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned that WWE will host a tryout in early March, with top indie talent from the region getting a shot to impress.
The tryout, set to take place in London, comes after months of speculation regarding WWE’s interest in European wrestlers. Some of the biggest names on the UK indie circuit, including Rhio, Tate Mayfairs, and Damian Corvin, have already caught WWE’s attention, with many being invited to events over the past year. However, several major UK talents were reportedly unaware of the tryout when contacted.
Wrestlers from wXw, OTT, and PROGRESS are expected to participate, giving some of Europe’s best unsigned talent a chance to showcase their skills in front of WWE officials. A recent success story from WWE’s global tryout system is NXT’s Zaria, who landed a contract after impressing at a tryout in Australia ahead of last year’s Elimination Chamber event.
For those hoping to get in on the action, WWE has set a deadline—talent have until February 28 to apply.
WWE is opening the door for Europe’s top wrestlers, but only a select few will get the golden ticket. With the deadline set for February 28, the pressure is on for hopefuls to make their case. Whether this tryout uncovers the next breakout star or just adds more names to WWE’s radar, one thing’s for sure—some careers are about to change in a big way.
