John Cena’s retirement tour officially kicked off during WWE RAW’s debut on Netflix on January 6, and 2025 marks the final year that John Cena will be active as an in-ring competitor before hanging up his boots for good. John Cena is guaranteed to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame someday, and now the leading candidate to induct him has been revealed.
While speaking on the Insight podcast, Chris Van Vliet told Kurt Angle that, according to betting websites like My Bookie, he is the favorite to induct John Cena into the WWE Hall of Fame, saying, “If you look at the betting websites, if you look at My Bookie, you are the favorite to induct John Cena into the Hall of Fame.”
Angle admitted he was surprised and acknowledged that many others also deserved the honor. He mentioned Randy Orton as Cena’s biggest rival and Stephanie McMahon for discovering his rapping ability and supporting him early in his career. However, Angle added that he would be honored to induct Cena into the Hall of Fame.
“Really? Well, there are a lot of people that deserve to induct John. Randy Orton, who was his biggest nemesis, but Stephanie McMahon, don’t forget she discovered his rapping ability and she was a big fan of him. She really supported him quite often, but no listen, I would be quite honored to induct John Cena.”
As John Cena enters his final year in WWE, his Hall of Fame induction is inevitable. Whether it’s Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, Stephanie McMahon, or someone else, the person chosen to induct him will have to honor his incredible impact on WWE and the wrestling world and that’s definitely something that fans feel only a select few people truly deserve.
Would Kurt Angle be the best choice, or do you think someone else—like Randy Orton or The Rock—should have the honor? Let me know your thoughts!
