Monday Night RAW made its Netflix debut on January 6 and one of the highlights of the show was undoubtedly The Undertaker’s appearance, as he had a special moment with Rhea Ripley following her Women’s World Title win. However, that wasn’t what WWE originally planned for The Deadman and now he has revealed what the company had initially in store for him.

While speaking on the Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker talked about the original plan for his appearance on the RAW Netflix debut show. At first, he was supposed to make an entrance and do an interview, which he was okay with. Someone was going to interview him, but later, they decided to change things to make the moment even bigger for the other person.

“They originally told me I was going to do an entrance and an interview. Oh, okay. And that would have been fine. I think they had someone lined up to interview me, but then they decided that doing it differently would make the whole thing even bigger for her.”

Initially, The Phenom wasn’t sure about the new idea because he didn’t want to take attention away from her. He knew it was an important moment for her after a long storyline and didn’t want to ruin it. But after they explained that she would still have her big moment in the ring and that their interaction would just add to the show, he changed his mind.

In the end, he agreed as he realized that while their characters weren’t the same, they had some similarities. The Deadman saw it as a way to show respect, support her, and give her what he called the “OG rub.”

“When they first told me, I was like, ‘Uh, I don’t think so.’ I said, ‘Dude, that’s her moment. I don’t want to take away from it. I don’t want to step on any part of that.’ I mean, this was the payoff to a very long storyline, and I definitely didn’t want to come out and overshadow her moment.

But they explained to me that she was still going to have her moment in the ring and that this would just be an additional moment where the two of us would cross paths. And I thought, ‘Okay, well, if it’s like that, then yeah, that’s pretty cool.’

Not that our characters are the same, but there are some similarities. So, it was just me showing her some respect, like dapping her up a little and saying, ‘Good job,’ and, you know, giving her that OG rub.”

In the end, The Undertaker’s appearance on RAW’s Netflix debut was a big moment that helped show off Rhea Ripley as a top WWE Superstar. His support for the younger generation shows why he is a legend and remains dedicated to the wrestling business and fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
