At TNA Genesis, Joe Hendry beat Nic Nemeth to win the TNA World Championship for the first time. It was a big moment for him, as he had been working hard for this. Unsurprisingly, he has now called out John Cena and made it clear that he believes he can compete with Cena on the microphone.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Joe Hendry called out John Cena. He talked about how he had achieved things that people thought were impossible in a time when anything can happen. Before the event, Triple H and Shawn Michaels tweeted about the show, and Cena, who hadn’t mentioned it before, posted the TNA logo on his Instagram. Hendry felt that as a TNA representative, he had to challenge Cena.
Hendry said he was 100% sure he could match Cena on the microphone. He admired Cena for speaking the truth but believed people hadn’t seen his own skills yet. Hendry also mentioned that he was comfortable going out without a script, and he considered Cena one of the best talkers in wrestling. Hendry said that if you don’t accept challenges like this, you’re not pushing yourself, and he was ready to show he could go toe-to-toe with Cena on the mic.
“John Cena, let me tell you why. I have done all the things that I thought would be impossible in an era where anything can happen. Just before Genesis, Triple H and Shawn Michaels tweeted about the show, and Cena, who hadn’t tweeted about it before, tweeted the TNA logo on his Instagram. What kind of representative would I be for TNA if I didn’t call out John Cena? I am 1000% confident I can hang with John Cena on the microphone.
I love it, because when Cena gets on the microphone, he speaks the truth. I genuinely believe that people haven’t seen what I can do on the microphone yet. I’m so comfortable going out there with nothing prepared, and for me, Cena is on the top echelon of talkers in this business. If you don’t invite this challenge to step up, then you’re not challenging yourself. I want it. I know how perfect he is on the mic, but I believe I can hang with John Cena.”
This is not a big surprise because Joe Hendry had made it clear he was going to call out John Cena as soon as he won the TNA World Championship. Therefore, we will have to wait and see whether Cena and Hendry will face each other in a promo battle in the future, as fans would love to see it happen.
